MALVASIA DELLE LIPARI 2002
Malvasia delle Lipari Passito DOC
The vineyards nestle on a lush green island in the middle of the southern Tyrrhenian Sea, surrounded by underwater craters, rocky arches and black sand spits. The wine is made from 95% Malvasia delle Lipari and 5% Corinto Nero grapes, dried for 15–20 days on reed racks known as canizzi. The nose offers balsamic notes of fresh and dried fruit swathed in sweet chocolate, while the firmly structured palate reveals a careful calibration of sweetness and impressive length. The wine is aged for 18 months in small oak casks, developing a sophisticated aromatic profile.
